DURHAM University Students Union has voted to disaffiliate itself with the National Union of Students after the NUS used thuggish tactics to get a political debate at the University cancelled. Andrew Brons MEP and Cllr Chris Beverley were both due to attend a debate on immigration at the university but the event had to be called off after threatening letters from the NUS were sent to student leaders at the university leaving them in no doubt they would face protests and possibly violence against students.
