Oklahoma State University to launch iPad Initiative
University's School of Media and Strategic Communication and Spears School of Business will provide approximately 125 students across five courses with Apple's iPad. The device will be used both for academic purposes and for exploring innovative uses specific to each schoolÂ’s industry needs. Both apps and web tools will be used on the device in the classroom setting. Cost savings for students are being researched in the study as well. One example has students saving $100 on a single textbook in one course -- instead of a physical textbook, the iPad can be utilized to carry a downloadable ePub version, saving production and paper costs, not to mention weight savings for the students' book bags. OSU expects to collectively discover more possibilities and to stretch the limits of usage by putting the device in the hands of numerous students.
